Jazz G Burke out 8-12 weeks

Point guard Trey Burke, the Utah Jazz's first-round draft pick, will need surgery on his broken finger, and he is expected to be sidelined eight to 12 weeks.

Pins must be inserted during the surgery to ensure full recovery, which is why it will take so long for Burke to return.

"It's unfortunate," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. "It's part of the business, being hurt and seeing how he responds. But it's unfortunate that it would happen now in training camp. He was learning a new game and new way to play, and he was making great strides."

Burke, the No. 9 overall pick in the draft, was the Jazz's starting point guard in their first three preseason games, averaging 6.3 points and 4.6 assists.

The Jazz may be in the market for a point guard now. John Lucas III, Scott Machado and Lester Hudson are the other point guards in Utah's camp.
