Jazz 89, Bulls 83

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Jazz broke two six-game losing streaks with an 89-83 overtime win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night at EnergySolutions Arena.

Rookie point guard Trey Burke, playing his first NBA home game, hit a big 3-pointer in overtime and scored 14 points to help the Jazz improve to 2-14 on the season.

Forward Marvin Williams scored a team-high 17 points for the Jazz, who had lost six consecutive this season and to the Bulls.

The Bulls (6-7) fell for the fourth consecutive time on their six-game road swing, losing on the same day they lost former MVP Derrick Rose for the rest of the season. Rose underwent successful surgery Monday morning in Chicago to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee. The All-Star point guard missed the entire 2012-13 season after having ACL surgery on his left knee.

"The fact that he's already done it once, he's got great mental toughness. He'll be fine," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said in his pregame interview. "It's another bump in the road. He'll get past it. I expect him to make a full recovery."

Chicago power forward Carlos Boozer, who played in Utah from 2004-10, totaled game-highs of 26 points and 16 rebounds. Bulls forward Luol Deng scored 24 points.

The Bulls forced overtime after trailing by 10 points early in the fourth quarter. Deng had 11 points in the period, but he missed a chance to put the game away in the final seconds.

Boozer's put-back attempt at the buzzer also rimmed out, setting up the Jazz's big overtime session.

Utah scored the first seven points of OT, including a 3-pointer by Burke and a clinching dunk by forward Richard Jefferson with 14 seconds remaining. Burke had the ball in the open court but unselfishly passed it back to the 13-year veteran for the big slam.

Jefferson and guard Gordon Hayward scored 15 points as all five Jazz starters hit double figures. Hayward, who shot 5-for-15 from the field, dished out a career-high 12 assists. Burke made only five of 17 shots.

The Jazz jumped out to a 12-point advantage late in the third quarter and held a lead most of the game despite shooting only 38.8 percent. The Bulls shot 39.2 percent.
