Today is National Draft Day:

Jays' Morrow goes on DL

The SportsXchange

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Brandon Morrow was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained left index finger.

Morrow injured the finger while pitching against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night. He "felt something pop" and informed the training staff when he came back to the dugout after completing the fifth inning. The right-hander gave up 11 hits and three runs in the Blue Jays' 6-5 loss.

The 29-year-old Morrow left the team on Saturday for Arizona to consult with his personal doctor and to have an MRI.

To take Morrow's place on the roster, the Blue Jays recalled reliever Chad Jenkins from Triple-A Buffalo. Jenkins pitched in one game for Toronto this season, giving up three runs and five hits in 1 2/3 innings to the Boston Red Sox on April 26.

Morrow has a 1-2 record with a 5.93 ERA this season in six starts.
