Jay Cutler to get $18 million in each of first three seasons

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler's bank account just got richer.

According to a report from FOX Sports, Cutler's deal will average $18 million per season in his first three years. He signed a seven-year contract to stay with the Bears on Thursday.

Receiver Brandon Marshall seemed to break the news of the total value of his contract, though that has yet to be confirmed. Marshall tweeted, "BOOM.. . JAY 7 for 126.. . Congrats now let's go win."

One could assume, based on Marshall's tweet, that Cutler's full contract might be worth $126 million over seven years, if he's able to play the full length of the deal out.

Cutler had previously expressed some concern about whether the Bears would get a deal done before free agency. So the news that the Bears inked him to a new deal this soon was somewhat surprising.

Cutler missed five games in the 2013 season but seemed to thrive in Marc Trestman's offense when he was healthy. Given the weapons Chicago's offense will have in year two of Trestman's scheme, the Bears have a lot to be excited about with Cutler back at quarterback.
