Wayne Rooney's lengthy injury coupled with scheduled rest for a dinged up Robin van Persie meant Javier Hernandez got his first start of the season for Manchester United on Saturday.

The 24-year-old overcame a dreadful start as he missed a penalty kick early in the first half, but rebounded later in the match when he slammed home an apparent misfire from teammate Alexander Buttner.

Hernandez's first goal in the Premier League this season coincided with it being his fourth strike overall against Wigan Athletic since arriving at Manchester United in 2010.

The only other English teams that Hernandez has victimized that same amount of times during his European career are Stoke City and Chelsea.

In scoring against Wigan on Saturday, Chicharito bagged his 24th league goal overall with United, with nine more coming across all other competitions.
