COMMENTARY | If you haven't heard about it already, UFC middleweight Uriah Hall and former roster member Jason Miller were involved in an altercation during the weekend which resulted in "The Ultimate Fighter" season 17 finalist throwing a punch at "Mayhem."
What started as a verbal jousting session almost turned physical when Miller repeatedly hurled racial slurs at Hall, who was apparently trying to save a female being harassed my Mayhem, while the two were at BAMMA USA's Badbeat 11 at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, Calif., prompting Uriah to swing.
Here's the video of the altercation.
Fortunately for Hall, who has gone 0-2 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship after being heavily-hyped during his TUF stint, he won't face any disciplinary action for his involvement in the altercation. If anything, he might even get a bonus.
"[Expletive] no!!! I'm gonna give him a bonus!!!" UFC President Dana White fired back at a fan when asked if Uriah Hall would be reprimanded.
Given the fact Miller and White have had their share of verbal sparring sessions ever since Mayhem's second stint with the UFC came to an end, Dana's comment isn't really surprising.
At this point, it's pretty much a consensus in the MMA community that Miller is completely off his rocker and it's impossible to defend his use of racial slurs -- even if he meant it as Uriah being a wuss. You could always make an argument that Hall should have showed better restraint, but that's easier said than done. Particularly when you factor in the pre-existing beef between Miller and Hall's camp, which is headed by UFC middleweight Mark Munoz -- who kicked Mayhem off the team about six weeks ago.
As for Miller, he insists he's being unfairly vilified.
"It seems to me that I must play the 'bad guy' insomuch as that is the narrative that everyone is writing for me," Miller tweeted about the altercation. "Truth is, I'm full of love. Some guy got in my face, I punked him, he threw, I slipped it. I have no hate for anyone based on race, and idgaf what u think anyway."
