Jason Kokrak is a 27-year-old rookie on the PGA Tour in 2012. A native of North Bay, Ontario, Canada, he turned pro in 2008 after graduating from Xavier University. His path to the PGA Tour progressed from two wins on the eGolf Tour, in 2010, to two victories on the Nationwide Tour in 2011.

PGA Tour Rookie

Kokrak earned his PGA Tour card, for the 2012 season, by finishing fourth on the 2011 Nationwide Tour money list. He has proven to be a long hitter, ranking 11th overall with an average of 305 yards per drive. He has found, however, that success at the highest level of professional golf requires much more than just long drives.

Jason has missed the cut more often than not in his rookie campaign. His ninth place tie at Pebble Beach seems out of place, as the only finish in the top 30. At the end of the 2012 season, which is fast approaching, the top 125 on the money list will earn Tour cards for 2013. Currently ranked #167, Jason needs a strong finish. He entered the Open playing his best golf of the season, making the cut in four of his last five events and posting several scores in the 60s. Open

With consecutive rounds of 68, 66, and 67, this is the first time Kokrak has posted three scores in the 60s in the same PGA Tour event. He is tied for third place, 12-under par after three rounds, three shots behind John Mallinger (a seven year Tour veteran also looking for his first career victory).

I am excited to watch Jason Kokrak play the final round, on Sunday, October 14th. Hoisting the winner's trophy would change his life in multiple ways: secure his Tour card for 2013, earn him an invitation to the next Masters Tournament, and I'm sure he would appreciate the $900,000 pay check as well.

Good Luck, Jason.
