Jared Sullinger: Herniated Disk

Update: Sullinger (back) has a herniated disk according to an MRI taken after the college season, but the Celtics do not believe the injury will be a long-term issue, Boston Globe reports.

Recommendation: The Celtics took Sullinger with the 21st pick in Thursday's draft despite his red flags. "There are some issues there," team president Danny Ainge said. "Our medical staff thinks that short-term and long-term there may be some maintenance issues with the back. Doc Rivers played with a herniated disk for 13 years. It may need surgery at some point, it may not." Ainge later said he wasn't implying Sullinger would need surgery prior to next season.
