James Madison 70, Northeastern 57

Senior guard A.J. Davis had a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds, helping James Madison earn an NCAA Tournament bid with a 70-57 victory over Northeastern in the championship game of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament on Monday at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va.

Senior forward Rayshawn Goins recorded his eighth double-double of the season for James Madison, which won the Colonial tournament for the first time since 1994. Goins finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard Jonathan Lee scored 14 points for Northeastern, which won the regular-season conference title, finishing three games ahead of fourth-place James Madison.

Northeastern (20-12) held an early 5-3 lead, but James Madison took control with a 17-0 run. The Dukes (20-14) took a 20-5 lead on a layup by Davis with 12:27 to play in the opening half. Davis converted a three-point play 29 seconds before halftime, giving James Madison a 40-18 lead at the break.

Northeastern cut James Madison's lead to eight with 8:20 remaining in the second half, but the Dukes mounted a 10-3 run to stretch their lead to 15 with 4:41 to go.
