HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Old Dominion's season-long struggles continued Saturday at the Convocation Center as James Madison ripped off a 15-4 second-half run to secure a 56-46 Colonial Athletic Association win.
The Monarchs (2-17, 0-7 CAA) led through most of a low-scoring first half before settling for a 21-21 tie at intermission.
The teams then battled to a 37-37 draw with 11:30 remaining before the Dukes (11-10, 5-3) took control.
With Ron Curry scoring six points in a span of just over five minutes, JMU opened up a 52-41 lead with 4:26 remaining and never looked back. Curry finished with 12 points, while Andre Nation scored a team-high 14 and Devon Moore added 10.
Keenan Palmore came off the bench to pace ODU with 13 points, and Aaron Bacote tallied 10. Leading scorer DeShawn Painter hit just 3-of-12 shots from the floor and scored just nine points.
The Monarchs shot poorly, making just 16-of-50 (32 percent) from the field, 2-of-14 (14 percent) on 3-pointers and 12-of-22 (54.4 percent) at the foul line.
