Jamaica concerned about Mexico City altitude

Ahead of its Wednesday night match at the Estadio Azteca to kick off the Hexagonal, Jamaica’s technical staff and players are concerned about the altitude they’ll face in Mexico City.

“The altitude is a specter because when you play above three thousand meters in the modern game, it’s troublesome,” said Jamaica’s assistant coach Alfredo Montes.

“And we know that the Estadio Azteca is never easy.”

Jamaica will visit Colossus of Santa Ursula on Wednesday night at 8:30 local time, in the opener of the final round of CONCACAF qualifying for both teams.

“We know that Mexico has very experienced players, and the country is achieving a lot in terms of its football,” Montes said. “The have a very strong league, and players in leagues around the world, so it’s obviously one of the strongest teams in the group.”

Jamaica will attempt to secure its first ever World Cup qualifying win at El Azteca in the prime-time matchup.
