The Jaguars placed LB Daryl Smith on injured reserve with a designation to return. He can practice after six weeks and be activated after eight weeks.
Smith has not played all season and he also missed the preseason with a groin injury. His first potential game this season would be against the Dolphins on Dec. 16, the third-to-last regular-season game.
Smith didn’t miss a game in the last three seasons. In 2011, he had 107 tackles, 3½ sacks, eight passes defensed and one interception.
