Jaguars' Knighton has surgery for eye injury

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton had surgery on Sunday as a result of an eye injury he sustained earlier that day, the team announced on Twitter.

"We are in the process of gathering information about what happened and are not able to further comment at this time," the Jaguars' statement read. "Our concern and our focus is on Terrance and his health and recovery."

Knighton sustained the injury in an incident early Sunday morning at a nightclub in Jacksonville, according to the Florida Times-Union. The severity of the injury is unclear, but Knighton has been released from the hospital and has an appointment with a doctor on Monday.

Knight has started all but three games for the Jaguars since joining the team in 2009. He had 29 tackles in 13 starts last season.
