JACKSONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- DaMarcus James ran for two touchdowns and Marques Ivory passed for two more as Jacksonville State ground out a 31-16 win over Southeast Missouri State Saturday in Ohio Valley Conference action.
James' first score vaulted the Gamecocks (2-2, 1-1) to a 14-10 advantage in the second quarter that wouldn't be relinquished. The sophomore came into the contest averaging 6.5 yards per carry, and upped that average with 149 yards on 21 rushes.
Griffin Thomas' 20-yard field goal stretched Jacksonville State's advantage to 17-10 in the third before Renard Celestin cut the lead with a 13-yard TD run. The Redhawks missed the extra point, though, and Ivory found Alan Bonner for a 20-yard score less than three minutes later to stretch the Gamecocks' advantage to 24-16. Ivory was 14-of-18 passing for 161 yards.
Levi Terrell bolstered the Redhawks' offense, gaining 146 yards on 26 carries.
