Maurice Jones-Drew established the ground game, paving the way to a surprising victory for the Jaguars over the superior Texans, 13-6, at Reliant Stadium.
Chad Henne completed the game 23 for 32 with 239 yards passing, no scores and no picks. On the Texans side, Case Keenum went 18 for 34 with 169 yards passing, no touchdowns and one pick.
Jones-Drew was a standout player for the Jaguars, rushing for 84 yards on 14 attempts with a touchdown in addition to six receptions for 60 yards. Cecil Shorts III caught eight balls for 71 yards.
The Jacksonville defense was the deciding factor in the victory, holding the Texans to 77 yards rushing and 169 passing while forcing one interception. They brought down Keenum for two sacks.
Texans running back Dennis Johnson contributed 74 yards rushing and 13 receiving.
The Jaguars travel to Cleveland next week to meet the Browns (4-7) while the Texans are at home to take on the Patriots (8-3).
