J.R. Smith scores 21, Knicks sneak by Warriors

Amare Stoudemire put up his fourth double-double this season, scoring 15 points and registering 13 rebounds, to help the New York Knicks nip the Golden State Warriors, 89-84. New York (31-43) has now won seven of their last 10 games.

Stoudemire shot 5-14 and converted 5-6 from the free throw line. Other key performers for New York were J.R. Smith with 21 points and 5 rebounds, and Carmelo Anthony with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Stephen Curry had another strong game for Golden State despite the loss, scoring 32 points on 10-21 shooting (6-12 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 6-8 from the free throw line. Andre Iguodala contributed 12 points and 6 assists.

This drops Golden State (45-28) to 1-1 against New York on the year.

Coming up next, the Knicks square off with the Utah Jazz, who are 23-51 on the year. The Warriors match up against the Dallas Mavericks, currently 44-30 this season. The Knicks have a 1-0 record against Utah this season. The Warriors have come away with a win the last two games against Dallas.
