J.R. Smith came off the bench and put up his first double-double this season, scoring 18 points and registering 10 rebounds, to help the New York Knicks steal one from the Orlando Magic, 103-98. The Knicks played an efficient game offensively, shooting 39-86 (45.3%) from the field and turning it over just nine times. New York (9-18) gets one in the win column after losing to Memphis on Saturday.
Smith went 7-17, including 3-6 from three-point range. Other key players for New York included Andrea Bargnani with 13 points and 5 rebounds, Tyson Chandler with 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Beno Udrih with 10 points and 6 assists. Arron Afflalo had another strong performance for Orlando in the loss, scoring 26 points on 9-17 shooting (5-7 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 3-5 from the free throw line. Glen Davis chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds, Jameer Nelson finished with 17 points and 10 assists, and Nikola Vucevic put up 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Orlando (8-20) has now dropped their last three in a row.
