Update: Allmendinger will test an IndyCar for Penske Racing at Sebring International Raceway on Feb. 18 and 19. If the test is successful, Allmendinger will make his open-wheel debut for Penske Racing at Barber Motorsports Park on Apr. 7, FOX Sports reports.
Recommendation: Allmendinger is getting a second chance with Penske Racing, but this time in the IRL. It's been seven years since he last piloted an open-wheel car, so the test will show if he can run laps with the best in this racing series. If sponsorship comes together with a successful test, we'll see Allmendinger in a Penske car a couple times this season.
