It looked like winter at Coors Field after major hail storm

A hail storm over Denver, Colorado on Tuesday night made Coors Field look like it was in the middle of winter, even though it’s definitely summer.

Do not adjust your screen. That isn’t a picture from November, but from June 28. Still have doubts? The Rockies’ own Twitter account has more proof.

The hail that did that was part of a huge storm that also dumped buckets of rain on to the stadium, and together the rain and hail caused the Colorado Rockies’ game against the Toronto Blue Jays to start two hour and forty-one minutes late.

The rain did more than delay the game. It also flooded the Rockies’ clubhouse, as seen in a video tweeted by former Rockies outfielder and current Rockies analyst Ryan Spilborghs.

Yikes. You know the weather is intense when even Coors Field can’t handle it.

The real heroes of this ordeal were the members of the Rockies’ grounds crew. They had to remove all the hail from the field and make it playable so the game could finally start. They had their work cut out for them.

By the time they were done, it was a total transformation.

It’s hard to believe that’s the same field, and that the grounds crew made it look like that after all that rain and hail. Hats off to the Coors Field grounds crew, and to crews at baseball stadiums near and far. Even after the yuckiest weather, they truly make baseball possible.
