UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) -- The New York Islanders have agreed to a two-year deal with goaltender Chad Johnson.

The 28-year-old Johnson was 17-4-3 with the Boston Bruins last season as a backup to Tuukka Rask, who recently won the Vezina Trophy as the league's most outstanding goaltender. Johnson was sixth in the league in goals-against average (2.10) and save percentage (.925).

Johnson was a fifth-round pick of Pittsburgh in 2006 and has played in 37 games with the Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes and New York Rangers. He played for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and had a 1.66 goals-against average his senior year in 2008-09. He was selected the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Year.
