Isaiah Thomas posted a triple-double with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Sacramento Kings to a close victory over the Washington Wizards, 117-111. Sacramento (24-44) picked up the win after falling to Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
Thomas shot 6-16 (2-7 from three-point range) and 10-10 from the free throw line. Sacramento also got solid performances from Rudy Gay with 24 points and 6 rebounds, and DeMarcus Cousins with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Despite the loss, Bradley Beal scored 19 points for Washington on 7-23 shooting (2-8 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 3-6 from the free throw line. Marcin Gortat chipped in 19 points and 14 rebounds, Drew Gooden finished with 18 points and 6 rebounds, and John Wall put up 14 points and 8 assists.
This drops Washington (35-32) to 1-1 against Sacramento on the year.
Coming up next, the Kings square off with the San Antonio Spurs, who are 50-16 on the year. The Wizards match up against the Portland Trail Blazers, currently 44-24 this season. The Kings lost their last two meetings with San Antonio. The Wizards have a 1-0 record against Portland this season.
