The Snake is going to need some help or some time to pay down his debt to the IRS.
Kenny Stabler’s last piece of property was sold in Mobile, Ala., but it wasn’t enough to satisfy what he owes the federal government. According to the Mobile Press-Register, a federal judge ruled Stabler owes more than $265,000, plus interest.
Stabler’s attorney said he plans to negotiate a payment plan but noted that the former quarterback is pretty much retired these days at the age of 66. His income is limited primarily to speaking engagements and autograph appearances he makes.
An icon for the Oakland Raiders and a member of their Super Bowl XI team, Stabler was also a star at the University of Alabama. He worked as a radio analyst for Crimson Tide games until a DUI arrest in 2009, his third. Stabler was eventually acquitted on that charge.
