Irish QB Rees pleads guilty to misdemeanor charges
Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges that include a 30-day suspended sentence, 11 months administrative probation and 50 hours community service.
Rees must also issue a letter of apology to officers involved in the May incident at an off-campus party. He pled guilty to illegal consumption of alcohol and resisting arrest in exchange for the agreement and dropping the more serious charge of battery and a second resisting arrest charge.
Rees must attend an Aug. 20 hearing, where he'll learn the amount he's to be fined for restitution.
Rees is in a four-way competition to remain the starting quarterback for the Fighting Irish along with four-star freshman Gunner Kiel, Andrew Hendrix and Everett Golson. He was cleared this month to take part in summer workouts by coach Brian Kelly.
