Injury Rundown: Dislocations

The word of the week in the fantasy community is "dislocated."

As in, "Willie Parker finally dislocated my team from the playoffs."

Or, "Footballs were dislocated from Willie Parker twice on Sunday night."

Or, "Willie Parker suffered a compound dislocation from my 2008 fantasy draft."

Another use of the term "dislocated" has appeared as well, referring to body parts. Not to the running back who's somehow carried 285 times this season for only two touchdowns.

Three of Sunday's most significant injuries were dislocations …

Matt Schaub, dislocated shoulder
No good news to report here. Schaub injured his non-throwing shoulder on an Antwan Odom sack. We're awaiting MRI results, but you can expect this to be a multi-week injury. The Houston Chronicle speculates today the Schaub might be done for the season.

Even if he's not, the Texans don't have many solid matchups in the weeks ahead. They'll finish against Tampa Bay, Denver, Indianapolis and Jacksonville. They also lost offensive linemen Fred Weary (broken tibia) for the season on Sunday, so there's little reason to be hopeful about Sage Rosenfels' fantasy usefulness.

LenDale White, dislocated finger
This dislocation reportedly involved White receiving stitches in the locker room, so that was probably disgusting. The 12.4 percent owned Chris Brown replaced White on Sunday, receiving 11 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. Jeff Fisher said that White "could have come back in," according to the Nashville Tennessean. It would be no surprise to see Brown and White – and maybe Vince Young – evenly split the carries against San Diego in Week 14. The Chargers allow 4.2 yards per rush and 111.8 per game. But it's possible that's a little skewed by Adrian Peterson.

Anquan Boldin, dislocated toe
According to the Cardinals' website, it's a toe injury. Various other things were suspected on game day. This is clearly not an ideal injury for a wide receiver, and Boldin is suddenly a risky play in Week 14. With Larry Fitzgerald (groin) sidelined on Sunday, the 0.4 percent owned Bryant Johnson – he had six receptions, 56 yards and one TD in Week 13 – becomes a worthy fantasy add.

Roy Williams, sprained right PCL
Rod Marinelli reportedly said that "this could be several weeks" for Williams, who sprained a posterior cruciate ligament in the Lions thorough loss at Minnesota on Sunday. You may have noticed that there are only actually four weeks remaining in the regular season, and three weeks left in the public league fantasy season. Not much reason for optimism for Williams owners today. Calvin Johnson (97.9 percent owned), Mike Furrey (16.7) and Shaun McDonald (78.1) all receive a bump in value. Apparently Williams' PCL is not torn, at least according to the Detroit News.

Derrick Ward, fractured fibula
Ward had a brilliant day against the heart-breakingly fraudulent Bears defense, gaining 183 total yards and scoring one touchdown before leaving with the injury. He was really just a placeholder for Brandon Jacobs owners on Sunday, though. Ward put quite a few of us into the fantasy playoffs in Week 13, and now his season is almost certainly over. Jacobs is expected back in Week 14, and Reuben Droughns is now his clear handcuff. That would make for a delightful buddy movie if they were literally handcuffed.

Jesse Chatman, ankle
Another game, another loss that a Dolphins' starting running back couldn't finish. Chatman entered Week 13 with a medley of injuries and he didn't exactly improve. The 0-12 Dolphins get Baltimore and New England in the public league playoffs, Weeks 15 and 16, so you really don't want any part of Chatman, Samkon Gado (0.2 percent owned) or Lorenzo Booker (0.1).
