Injury Questions: Week 3

Jeff Brubach recaps Jamaal Charles' injury and other fantasy football action from a busy Sunday in Monday's Daily Dose

Welcome to Week 3 of the National Football League fantasy division. This week brings a whole cattle call of injured players. So let’s get to business.

For lineup decisions let Pat Daugherty help you out with his Week 3 Rankings. For sleepers let Nick Mensio give you the scoop in his latest. And always be sure to read Evan Silva’s detailed look at every game in his Matchups column.

1PM GAMES

Chargers at Bills

* Ryan Mathews (knee) is out with a sprained MCL and should miss the next 4-5 weeks. Donald Brown will pick up the slack as the early down back.

* Melvin Ingram (hamstring) has been ruled out and linebacker Jerry Attaochu (hamstring) is questionable, but didn’t practice all week.

* Keenan Allen (groin) was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday and is listed as questionable. This is an early game, so be sure to see that he goes.

Titans at Bengals

* A.J. Green (toe) got in a full practice on Friday and is listed as probable. After starting last week and leaving the game early his fantasy owners may be gun shy to start him, but as long as he goes you have to play him, especially with Titans' top cornerback Jason McCourty listed as questionable after only getting in limited practice with a groin issue this week.

Ravens at Browns

* Bernard Pierce is questionable after coming down with a thigh injury this week, but did get a limited practice in on Friday. He makes for a risky play with this injury and a mostly ineffective Week 2 performance.

* Jordan Cameron (shoulder) is listed as questionable and looks to be a game time decision.

Packers at Lions

* Tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee) is questionable after missing last week’s game, but did practice this week in a limited fashion.

Colts at Jaguars

* Hakeem Nicks is questionable after missing the last two practices with an illness. Donte Moncrief would see more work if he can’t go.

* Marqise Lee (hamstring) is out, but Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and Allen Hurns (ankle) both practiced in full on Friday and are listed as probable.

Raiders at Patriots

* Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is questionable, but did return to limited practices Thursday and Friday. If he plays it will still be a committee attack and not fantasy friendly.

* Shane Vereen (shoulder) was limited in practice this week and is listed as questionable. It’s hard to know the severity of this injury since it’s the Patriots, but we expect him to play as usual.

Vikings at Saints

*Mark Ingram (hand) has been ruled out and Khiry Robinson should get his work.

Texans at Giants

* Arian Foster (hamstring) was limited in practice on Friday and is listed as questionable. He should be able to go, but this is an early game and we will know for sure before we need to set lineups. Alfred Blue would get first shot at work if Foster were to miss.

Redskins at Eagles

* DeSean Jackson (shoulder) is questionable after getting a limited practice in Friday. According to reports he didn’t look 100%. With him facing the team that cut him he’ll do whatever he can to play, but that’s still an open question. Thankfully this is an early game as well.

* Jordan Reed (hamstring) is out and Niles Paul should once again have fantasy value.

Cowboys at Rams

* Anthony Spencer (knee) is out; Justin Durant (groin) and Rolando McClain (groin) are listed as doubtful. Zac Stacy should have some room to run in this one.

* Shaun Hill (thigh) is questionable after getting limited practices in this week, but there’s a good chance we’ll see Austin Davis again.

* Tavon Austin (knee) is questionable with a MCL sprain. It doesn’t look good for him to go in this one. Stedman Bailey should get some work.

4PM GAMES

49ers at Cardinals

* Vernon Davis (ankle, knee) got in some light jogging Friday and is listed as questionable. He will be a game time decision in the afternoon game, so look elsewhere.

* Carson Palmer (shoulder) is listed as questionable, but won’t start due to the nerve problem in his shoulder. Drew Stanton will get the start and hurts the upside of the receivers, especially Michael Floyd.

Chiefs at Dolphins

* Jamaal Charles (ankle) is questionable after practicing the last two days. This was a shock after Charles wasn’t able to return to the Denver game last week and was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, but he’s now a game-time decision in a late game. Many Charles owners probably have Knile Davis, so sitting on the decision of who to start between them until the last minute might be best.

* Charles Clay (knee) is listed as questionable. Last week he was listed as probable with the same knee issue, so it is a bit concerning. He should be able to go though.

* Knowshon Moreno (elbow) is out and has a 4-8 week timetable for his return. Lamar Miller will handle the starting running back duties.

Broncos at Seahawks

* Wes Welker is not on the injury report and will play.

* Marshawn Lynch (back) is listed as probable and will play as usual.

SUNDAY NIGHT

Steelers at Panthers

* DeAngelo Williams (quad) is listed as questionable, but coach Ron Rivera expects him to play.

* Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) is listed as questionable, but wasn’t able to practice Friday. If he can’t go it should be a slight bump for Kelvin Benjamin’s targets.

* Jason Avant (thigh) is also listed as questionable.

MONDAY NIGHT

Bears at New York Jets

* Eric Decker (hamstring) wasn’t able to practice on Friday, but coach Rex Ryan still believes he’ll suit up Monday night. If he can practice Saturday we’d feel better about his status.

* Brandon Marshall (ankle) has yet to practice this week, but we saw what he could do last week without practicing. He should play and it’s a great matchup.

* Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday and should be in better shape to play than he was last week.
