We’re just about to close out 2012, but the UFC injury bug is already making its way into the New Year, taking another bite out of the UFC on FX 7 fight card slated for Jan. 19 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Don’t worry, the main event middleweight showdown between Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping is currently still intact. The injury bug has started a little farther down the card, taking out Brazilian Caio Magalhaes.
Stepping in for Magalhaes is the man that defeated him in his UFC debut, Buddy Roberts, according to UFC officials.
Roberts, however, was unsuccessful in his follow-up to that victory, losing to Yushin Okami earlier this year at UFC 150 in Denver. He’ll be looking to right his ship against Michael Kuiper, who was originally slated to face Thiago Bodão.
Magalhaes was a replacement for Bodão, who dropped out of the fight due to a knee injury.
Kuiper also lost his Octagon debut, but rebounded with a TKO stoppage of Jared Hamman on the Denver fight card, and now meets Roberts in Sao Paulo.
