Injured Gabbert named Jaguars' starter

Even though he'll be sidelined until next month, Blaine Gabbert was named the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Head coach Gus Bradley declared Gabbert the No. 1 quarterback over Chad Henne, ending a competition that began in in April.

A hairline fracture in his thumb will force Gabbert to sit out the remainder of the preseason. He was injured Saturday against the Jets and must wear a hard splint for at least two weeks.

Bradley said Gabbert will be ready for the regular-season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
