Yahoo Daily Fantasy:

Indians will put Chisenhall on DL with broken forearm

The SportsXchange

On a road trip that has turned into a disaster, the Indians Friday lost a game and a player. The Indians

lost for the sixth time in eight games on the trip, this one 9-8 to Baltimore.

The player lost is third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall, who suffered a broken right forearm after getting

hit by a pitch from Orioles reliever Troy Patton in the fifth inning. Chisenhall, who had begun to hit in

recent games, will undergo surgery on the arm next week in Cleveland. He is expected to miss four-to-six

weeks.

"We had a bad feeling (about the seriousness of the injury). The sound (when he got hit) was not good,"

said manager Manny Acta.

The Indians will feel the loss of Chisenhall offensively. He has been sharing third base with Jack

Hannahan, but Hannahan is in the throes of a massive slump. Since May 12, Hannahan is hitting .105 (4-for-

38).

Chisenhall, on the other hand, was 1-for-2 Friday before getting hit by that pitch. Over his last eight

games, Chisenhall was hitting .375 (9-for-24). During that span, Chisenhall had raised his batting average

for the season from .229 to .278.

Chisenhall will be placed on the disabled list Saturday, and Acta said the Indians will make a move to

fill that spot on the roster. The leading candidates at Class AAA Columbus would appear to include

infielder/outfielder Jason Donald, first baseman/outfielder Matt LaPorta and infielder Cord Phelps.
