In week three of the 2012 NFL season, the Indianapolis Colts will look to equal their win total of the entire 2011 season. Andrew Luck and the Colts are in a great position to do just that in this weeks matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville comes in at 0-2 having lost to both the Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans. Indianapolis is 1-1 on the young season.
This is a very winnable game for Indianapolis and one that should propel them to a winning record once again. The team is starting to get healthier which should provide a big boost in this game. Offensive lineman Winston Justice and Samson Satele are expected to return in this game and will leave the team only down one starting lineman. Although it will likely be a game-time decision, wide receiver Austin Collie may return as well this week. Collie would provide a big boost to an emerging passing game that has seen hot starts from both Reggie Wayne and Donnie Avery. Fans have to hope that the team can carry their momentum this week and pick apart a weak Jacksonville team. This could be just the kind of game the offensive line needs to have a breakthrough performance.
I think this is a game Indianapolis certainly should and will win. The Colt run defense appears to be significantly improved this year and will focus on slowing down Maurice Jones-Drew. If they're able to successfully accomplish that, the team will be well on their way to their second consecutive victory. This would be a great start to the season and one that should have fans excited. This is a big game for the morale of a young team. Regardless of who the opponents are, if Indianapolis were able to move to 2-1 on the season, this would be a huge confidence boost of the very young roster. A win here would also further excite a fan base that was disappointed in the 2-14 season in 2011. This is a new Colt team and one that fans have a reason to be excited about into the future.
Prediction: Colts 31, Jaguars 17
