The SportsXchange

Indiana moved into the No. 1 spot in both major polls, which were released Monday.

It is the fifth straight week there has been a new No. 1 team in the AP top 25 media poll -- the first time since 2008-09.

Indiana (20-2) received 58 of 65 first place votes. No. 2 Florida (18-2) picked up the remaining votes while moving up from fourth a week ago. Indiana was also on top of the rankings the first five weeks of the season after being named preseason No. 1. The Hoosiers moved up from third after beating Michigan, and Kansas lost to Oklahoma State.

The Hoosiers got 25 of 31 first place votes in the USA Today coaches poll. No. 2 Florida received the remaining six votes.

Michigan fell from first to No. 3 and Kansas dropped from second to No. 5. Duke moved up one spot to No. 4.

The rest of the AP top 10 included Gonzaga, Arizona, Miami, Syracuse and Ohio State.

The top 10 in the coaches poll was the same as the media poll except for the No. 8 spot, which went to Michigan State. The Spartans ranked 12th by AP. Miami was 11th in the coaches poll.

No. 20 Georgetown, No. 22 Oklahoma State, No. 23 Pittsburgh and No. 25 Notre Dame replaced Wichita State, Mississippi, North Carolina State and San Diego State in the AP top 25.

Only Notre Dame did not crack the coaches poll.

The Big East had seven teams in the AP top 25 and the Big Ten five.
