The Indiana Fever will have a jersey sponsor next season thanks to their new partnership with Finish Line. The original deal was announced before the team won the WNBA championship, but the company is expected to increase promotion thanks to the title. Sources close to the situation admit that Finish Line will be trying to benefit from the Fever's WNBA championship and may increase its involvement with the team.
The Indiana Fever's New Sponsor
After the WNBA announced it would allow jersey sponsors last year, teams began to search for companies willing to work with them. Several of them have been successful, and the Indiana Fever have found Finish Line to be a willing sponsor. In 2013, fans can expect to see a large Finish Line logo on the players' uniforms.
The sponsorship deal is expected to extend beyond the Indiana Fever's jerseys. Finish Line and the team will be featured in commercials and displays at games. While other WNBA teams have found national sponsors, the Fever have turned to a company that has headquarters in Indianapolis. Finish Line was founded in 1976 and has more than 600 stores across the United States.
The Next Season
The deal between the Indiana Fever and Finish Line was completed and announced before Game 4 of the WNBA finals. The sponsorship will become more visible to fans in 2013, but the company does not plan on being idle before the start of the next season. Since the Fever have been able to claim the 2012 WNBA championship, Finish Line is rumored to be pushing up some of its deadlines to start integrating into the team.
The 2013 Indiana Fever jersey will feature a Finish Line logo, and this means that most of the fan merchandise will be updated. In addition, Bankers Life Fieldhouse will be getting a minor makeover to show the new partnership with Finish Line. The company will be adding its logo to most of the items that feature the Indiana Fever. The championship will also result in more marketing efforts during the offseason as both the team and Finish Line try to benefit from the new title.
