Portland Timbers 1-2 Montreal Impact: Candians nick away win

Montreal Impact midfielder Felipe, one of the top newcomers in Major League Soccer this season, will miss the expansion team's final two games of the season with a sports hernia, the club announced on its official website.

Felipe will undergo surgery for the hernia on Tuesday and will be forced to miss the remainder of the MLS season as a result. Montreal returns to action on Oct. 20 for a battle with Canadian rival Toronto FC at BMO Field before closing the season at Stade Saputo against the New England Revolution on Oct. 27.

Felipe, who sat out the Impact's last game against the Houston Dynamo on Oct. 6, scored four goals and had a team-high 10 assists in 30 appearances for the Impact, with the diminutive 22-year-old Brazilian pairing with Canadian Patrice Bernier to form one of the more potent central-midfield tandems in the league. The Impact did not list a timetable for his return.
