The IMG sports academy in Bradenton, Fla., announced it will field a high school football team coached by former Florida State and NFL quarterback Chris Weinke. Weinke is the director of the IMG Football Academy, and the former Heisman Trophy winner has tutored many draft prospects in recent years, including the recent first-round draft picks Ryan Tannehill and Cam Newton. "Through our camps, clinics, combines and individual training, I have spent an incredible two years at IMG Academy working with some of the most talented young football players in the nation," Weinke said in a statement. "I have been looking forward to the day we could announce the formation of a competitive team, and that day is finally here." Among past and present pro players to train at IMG are Drew Brees, Eli Manning and Luke Kuechly. The 450-acre campus will host "750 student-athletes representing 85 countries with a goal of maximizing academic and athletic performance" according to the released. The football training program was started in 2010. IMG touts its "professional-grade facilities, training methods and world-renowned coaches and trainers" that will rival many college programs.
