Darius Paul was suspended for the 2014-15 season by the University of Illinois. Paul, who sat out last season as a transfer from Western Michigan, was arrested April 21 and charged with underage drinking and resisting arrest. The suspension would open up a scholarship for the basketball program next season. "After a thorough review of Darius' year, which includes multiple transgressions, I am suspending Darius ... for the entire 2014-15 season," head coach John Groce said in a statement. "This penalty is necessary to help Darius as a person. We will continue to support him through this process." Paul is the younger brother of former Illinois guard Brandon Paul, who was named Mr. Basketball at Warren Township High School in Gurnee, Ill., and played or the Fighting Illini from 2009-2013.
