Sweden's Ilir “The Sledgehammer” Latifi will take on Jan Blachowicz in a light heavyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 53 in Stockholm.
UFC officials announced the match-up on Wednesday.
Latifi (9-3, 1 NC) made his UFC debut in April 2013, filling in on short notice for Alexander Gustafsson against Gegard Mousasi. Gustafsson was forced out of the event four days before the scheduled fight. Despite only have days to prepare, Latifi went the distance with Mousasi but lost via unanimous decision. Since his debut loss, Latifi has put together back-to-back first round finishes.
Blachowicz (17-3) will be making his promotional debut. The Polish fighter is riding a five-fight winning streak and hasn’t suffered a loss since 2011.
UFC Fight Night 53 takes place on Oct. 4 at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm. It will be the third time the UFC has hosted an event in Sweden.
