Update: Desmond has a torn oblique and will be placed on the 15-day disabled list, the Washington Times' Amanda Comak reports.
Recommendation: Desmond is expected to miss a large chunk of time with the injury, as he will be rested for a full two weeks before the team re-evaluates him. It's a big blow for the offensively-challenged Nationals, who lose their team leader in batting average and home runs. Hopefully Desmond will be back for the stretch run as the Nationals jockey for playoff positioning.
