Hurricanes reinstate LB Johnson from suspension

University of Miami redshirt freshman linebacker Eddie Johnson, suspended from the team for last week's game against Virginia, was reinstated and practiced with the team Tuesday.

Johnson could be back in action for Saturday's game against South Florida, though he won't start, coach Al Golden told the local media.

"There's a responsibility and level of accountability that we can't move on without," Golden said. "It's not, 'Do this for me.' It's, 'Do it because the rest of the team is doing it and because you want to be accountable and you want to be responsible and you want to be a good teammate.'

"Hopefully, he'll come out of it stronger and respond. I've been in situations where two or three years down the road you look back and say, 'That was a moment that I finally realized what I'm giving up or what I'm costing the team.' As a coach, you can't look the other way."

Another Miami player who was left off the traveling squad for the Virginia game due to disciplinary reasons, freshman linebacker Gabe Terry, remains sidelined.

"I'd love for him to play, but it's in his court," Golden said. "He's got to mature. He's got to see the big picture and how he impacts the team. Right now, he has not been reinstated. I don't know if that's going to change."
