Sporting Kansas City was the best team in Major League Soccer regular season but the Houston Dynamo proved against resting on those laurels on Sunday.
Adam Moffat and Will Bruin led the Dynamo to impressive 2-0 victory over Eastern Conference leaders at home leaving Sporting's playoffs hopes in doubt.
Moffat gave the Houston the lead in the 18th minute off of a stunning blast from just outside of the box, powering past Jimmy Nielsen at goal. The fans at BBVA Compass Stadium were clearly impressed with the strike and jumped out of their seats after the strike.
The Dynamo then doubled their lead in the 78th minute when striker Will Bruin got a feed from Calen Carr in the center of the box and blasted the ball into the net. It was Bruin's third goal of the postseason and put him on the top of the playoff scoring leaders.
Despite having the edge in possession, Sporting couldn't break past a stingy Houston defense and their finishing was inept. Peter Vermes' side could at least be happy with the fact that the result wasn't at LIVESTRONG park and will try to overturn a two-goal deficit on Wednesday.
