Forward Malcolm Miller scored 14 points and forward Malachi Alexander contributed 13 points off the bench to lead a balanced attack for Holy Cross in a 61-42 victory over Lehigh on Saturday in Worcester, Mass. Holy Cross (9-9, 3-3 Patriot League) also got 11 points from point guard Justin Burrell and 10 points and six rebounds from forward Dave Dudzinski. The Crusaders played rugged defense, holding Lehigh to a season-low output. The Mountain Hawks shot 29.6 percent from the floor. In losing its fifth straight, Lehigh (8-11, 1-5) got 13 points from freshman guard Austin Price, but none of his fellow starters scored more than six points. Freshman forward Shane Whitfield had nine points and four rebounds off the bench for the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh's top scorer, senior guard Mackey McKnight, made just 1 of 11 shots from the field and finished with two points, 14 below his average. Lehigh took an early 14-8 lead as Price hit a trio of 3-pointers. But Holy Cross soon took control of the game with a 16-0 run. Burrell, a junior, highlighted the run with consecutive jumpers, one a 3-pointer. Alexander contributed seven points in the rush, which he capped with a blocked shot, a rebound of the loose ball and a jumper at the other end for a 27-16 lead with 2:18 left in the half. Shortly after intermission, Miller hit a 3-pointer to give Holy Cross a 32-20 lead. After that, the Mountain Hawks never got the deficit back to single digits. Burrell and sophomore swingman Eric Green combined for the highlight of the second half, with the point guard throwing a fast-break alley-oop from beyond midcourt that Green caught and slammed through the hoop for two of his nine points.
