Hollins faces uncertain fugure with Grizzlies

Lionel Hollins wants to return to the Memphis Grizzlies as coach next season, but his contract runs out at the end of June and other teams have any eye on landing him for their vacancies.

"Hopefully, I will be here," Hollins said. "I love the guys. I love this city and the fans and everybody associated with the team. But we've got to be very, very realistic in what the future holds."

The Grizzlies were swept out of the Western Conference finals on Monday night by the San Antonio Spurs after the team had won playoff series against Golden State and Oklahoma City. Hollins said after the Game 4 loss to the Spurs that he has yet to have conversations with anyone in the Grizzlies' organization about his future.

Among the teams mentioned as possible landing spots for Hollins are the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets.

Hollins doesn't expect the Grizzlies to grant him permission to speak with potential suitors until his contract expires next month.

"Why would they? I wouldn't," he said, according to The Commercial Appeal.

Grizzlies CEO Jason Levien sounded noncommittal when asked about Hollins, saying contract negotiations were not a matter for public discussion.

"Certainly, we admire the job he's done," Levien said. "He's been very helpful and very positive."
