Atlanta Police have issued an arrest warrant for former college basketball and WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw as of Thursday.
The former University of Tennessee star is wanted for aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and reckless conduct. The incident was originally reported by WSB-TV in Atlanta.
The police report said the warrant involves a dispute with Jennifer Lacy, who described herself as Holdsclaw's former girlfriend, that turned violent and left windows smashed in the defendant's car.
According to the report, Holdsclaw, 35, allegedly put gasoline in Lacy's vehicle then followed her and, after the vehicles stopped, smashed out the windows of Lacy's car. Holdsclaw then pulled out a handgun, fired shots into the car and fled. Police found 9mm shell casings at the scene.
Lacy also is a pro basketball player, competing in the WNBA since she was drafted from Pepperdine in 2006. She currently plays for the Tulsa Shock.
Holdsclaw played 12 seasons in the WNBA after leading Tennessee to three consecutive NCAA Division I championships. She has been retired since 2010. She is a spokesperson for Active Minds, a group devoted speaking out about mental health.
