Hill, allegedly tied to scandal at Miami, resigns from Florida

Florida wide receivers coach Aubrey Hill resigned for personal reasons on Friday, a possible warning sign of sanctions to come at the University of Miami (Fla.), where Hill allegedly had ties to imprisoned booster Nevin Shapiro.

"Aubrey informed me he was resigning for personal reasons that have nothing to do with the University of Florida," Florida coach Will Muschamp said in a statement. "Aubrey didn't want to be a distraction to our team and our football program and he thought it was best for him to move on. I appreciate Aubrey's efforts and wish him the best of luck moving forward. He will always remain a Gator."

Hill was most valuable to Florida as a recruiter and held the joint title of recruiting coordinator. He was hired by Muschamp in Dec. 2010 shortly after he replaced Urban Meyer as Gators head coach.

According to the investigative report by Yahoo's Charles Robinson, Hill allegedly was present for recruiting violations involving impermissible contact in which Shapiro used his yacht, mansion and fleet of cars with the intention of enticing players to play football for the Hurricanes.

Florida offensive coordinator Dan Pease is expected to assume part of Hill's responsibility as receivers coach. Florida could hire a new recruiting coordinator but made no announcement Friday.
