The Redskins announced Monday that they have re-signed unrestricted free-agent RB Tim Hightower. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The team also waived TE Rob Myers.

Hightower, a fifth-year pro, will be entering his second with the Redskins after joining the team via trade during the 2011 offseason. He started all five games in which he appeared in 2011, piling up 321 yards on 84 carries with one touchdown. He also had 10 receptions for 78 yards and a one TD.

Prior to joining the Redskins, Hightower, 25, played three seasons for the Cardinals, who selected him with a fifth-round pick in the 2008 NFL draft. As a Cardinal, he rushed 439 times for 1,733 yards (3.9 avg.) with 23 touchdowns. He also had 118 receptions for 801 yards (6.8 avg.).
