High-schooler boots 67-yard field goal

Austin Rehkow became an internet sensation when video of the high school kicker's 67-yard field goal landed on YouTube.

Rehkow, who plays for Central Valley High, made the field goal as time expired in regulation to tie Thursday night's game against Shadle Park High at 55-55 and force overtime. Central Park went on to win, 62-55.

The longest field goal in NFL history is 63 yards, a record shared by Tom Dempsey (1970), Jason Elam (1998), Sebastian Janikowski (2011) and David Akers (2012). St. Louis Rams rookie kicker Greg Zuerlein was wide left but had plenty of distance on a 66-yard attempt last Sunday.

The National Federation of High Schools Record Book shows Dirk Borgognone of Reno, Nev., holds the record with a 68-yard field goal in 1985. Two other kickers have connected from 67 yards.
