Hidden gems for stretch run

There isn't much time left to adjust your rosters, so consider picking up these hot players who are playing plenty of games

The final two weeks of the regular season are upon us, so it's time to either stick with what you've got or roll the dice and pull the trigger on some roster tweaks you've been mulling over for a while. Grabbing hot players and those who are playing heavier schedules is a great way to make changes if you looking to do so.

Here are some recommendations:

Mark Stone (OTT) - RW - Owned in 25% of Yahoo leagues

It's still baffling to me that Stone is so readily available in most leagues out there even though he has 19 goals and 52 points in 72 contests. He has averaged 0.92 points-per-game since January, with 11 goals and 24 assists over that span. With Ottawa battling hard for the final playoff spot in the East, Stone has plenty to play for and he's risen to the occasion during his rookie campaign. The Senators play four times this coming week, so fantasy owners will get some good mileage out of Stone.

Alex Tanguay (COL) - LW, RW - Owned in 26% of Yahoo leagues

Tanguay is another 50-point producer who has elevated his play down the stretch. He entered Saturday night's action with six goals and 11 points in 11 games during the month of March. Tanguay has been on a roll with red hot linemates Ryan O'Reilly and Gabriel Landeskog helping him along. Colorado also has four matches on tap for next week.

Benoit Pouliot (EDM) - LW - Owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues

Pouliot has registered four goals and six helpers in his past eight games, while adding 21 shots over that time. Edmonton got Taylor Hall back in the lineup last weekend, but Pouliot has remained on a line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle. March has been his best month of the season and it's where he's picked up 10 of his 30 points. The Oilers have four games on tap for the coming week

Kevin Hayes (NYR) - C, RW - Owned in 10% of Yahoo leagues

Hayes is a high-risk/high-reward player because when he has generated points during his rookie they have come in bunches. The risk partially comes from the fact that he just earned one goal and five assists during a four-game point streak that ended on Saturday versus Boston. The 22-year-old forward has been skating mostly on the third line with Carl Hagelin and Jesper Fast, but that hasn't stopped him from getting points with other players in recent outings. He has 14 goals and 38 points in 71 games and he's earned 21 of those points since the start of February. The Rangers play three games this coming week.

Victor Rask (CAR) - C - Owned in 3% of Yahoo leagues

Rask has improved over the course of the season and the rookie has been especially productive of late. He has notched eight assists and 11 points in 13 games during the month of March. The 22-year-old center has also contributed a point in each of his last four matches. He has won 50.8% of his 809 faceoffs and he's playing between Jeff Skinner and Elias Lindholm on the second line. He also ranks third on the team in total power play time this campaign (182:18), so he'll have more opportunities to contribute in the final portion of the season. Carolina plays three games from March 30 to April 5.

Petr Mrazek (DET) - G - Owned in 15% of Yahoo leagues

Mrazek's ownership in Yahoo leagues spiked after Saturday's 23-save shutout against Tampa Bay, but he's still available in most of them. Jimmy Howard has one win in his last seven starts. During that time he allowed seven goals to Philadelphia, five goals to Arizona and he didn't make it out for the second period in Thursday's meeting versus San Jose. That has opened the door for Mrazek and his shutout should give him some extra playing time. The Red Wings play four times next week, including a back-to-back situation on the weekend. At the very least, Mrazek plays once and possibly more if coach Mike Babcock decides to let him carry the load for a little. The 23-year-old netminder has a 15-7-1 record with a .917 save percentage and a 2.40 goals-against average in 24 appearances with Detroit this season.

Brandon Pirri (FLA) - C - Owned in 10% of Yahoo leagues

Pirri has been a scoring tear since returning from a nine-game absence due to an upper-body injury. He has netted 11 goals and a whopping 55 shots in his past 14 contests. Prior to getting hurt, Pirri had six goals and one assist over nine matches. If you are looking for goals and shots then Pirri should be on your radar, but if you need assists then you should probably look elsewhere. He has 20 goals, 128 shots and just two helpers in 42 appearances this year. The Panthers have four games scheduled for this coming week.

Cam Atkinson (CBJ) - RW - Owned in 12% of Yahoo leagues

Atkinson hit the 20-goal plateau for a second straight season on Saturday against St. Louis. He has been surging offensively this month with seven goals and 12 points in 14 games. He has amassed seven of those points thanks to multi-point performances in each of his last three outings. Atkinson has been firing on all cylinders, while skating on Columbus' top line alongside Ryan Johansen and Boone Jenner. The Blue Jackets will skate in three matches next week.
