Herrera focused on title No. 12, not El Tri

There seems little doubt that Miguel Herrera will be ratified as the new Mexico coach Monday in a meeting of Liga MX club owners, but the Club America boss is not getting distracted with the playoffs in full swing, instead warning rivals that they will "hate us even more" if Las Aguilas win a second consecutive title.

America tied 2-2 against Tigres in Monterrey in the first leg of the Liga MX quarterfinals last weekend, with the deciding game Sunday at Estadio Azteca.

"I'm sure we will reach the final," a confident Herrera said during a press conference Thursday, stressing that his America players are hungry and focused on winning title No. 12, which would make the club the most successful in Mexico.

"The mission is to be two-times champion. It is huge and we are concentrated on what we have to do," he added.

The former Atlante coach did turn his attention to national team matters, indicating that he would be open to using players based in Europe.

"(The doors are open) to everyone," Herrera said. "When they say on Monday (that I'm the new coach), I'll be open to the national team and I've promised the Europe-based player that I would go search them out."
