Mexico national team defender Hector Moreno has been named RCD Espanyol's best player for this past season, picking up the accolade in his first year with the club.
The 24-year-old joined the La Liga side from Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar last summer and played a vital role in Espanyol avoiding relegation as the Periquitos finished 14th, just five points above the drop.
The UNAM Pumas youth product, who has made 37 appearances for El Tri, has a habit of picking up silverware and accolades. Winner of a U17 World Cup and a CONCACAF Gold Cup with Mexico and a Dutch championship with AZ, he was given a Dutch knighthood in 2010 by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands as an example to young people.
