If The Hat Fits! A Fedora Princess Kate Tried On Could Be Yours
You could share clothes with Princess Kate!
Well, kind of. A hat the royal tried on when she visited a thrift store led by one of the charities she supports, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), could be yours.
The accessory currently is up for auction on eBay - just a year after Kate tried it on when she opened the Norfolk, England shop.
The EACH-run shop in Holt is not too far from Kate and Prince William’s country home, Anmer Hall, and had its royal-attended opening in March of 2016. Ian Nicolson, Head of Retail for EACH, said that the auction is timed to the shop’s one year anniversary.
“It was so exciting when The Duchess of Cambridge opened the shop and we are really pleased to be able to sell the Boden hat on eBay to support our care services,” Nicolson said. “I can’t wait to see how much it sells for or whether the winning bidder lives in the UK or further afield.”
During her visit to the shop, Kate placed the brand new navy hat, decorated with a caramel-colored ribbon on her head as she shared a joke with EACH staff. The item, designed by British brand Boden, was estimated at the time to be worth $22.
Last year, Tracy Rennie, director of care at the hospice, told PEOPLE that Kate said, “I like that hat,” before popping it on. “She recognized it as Boden,” Rennie added.
Kate, who joined husband Prince William for a whirlwind visit to Paris last weekend, enjoyed her short shopping trip to the EACH store, picking up a book for son Prince George for $3 and a $11.50 Beatrix Potter Tom Kitten figurine - possibly for Princess Charlotte.
EACH supports families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk in England, and is currently raising $14 million to pay for a new hospice nearby called “the nook.”
The auction for the hat is ongoing, and will run until April 2. The price is set to start at 10 - or $12.46 - so get your bids in!
