Harper ready to return to Nats' starting lineup

The SportsXchange

After a run-in with the outfield wall three days earlier that left Bryce Harper with 11 stitches and felling nauseous, the outfielder was to return to the Washington Nationals' lineup on Thursday night for their game against the San Diego Padres.

Harper crashed into the right-field wall in Dodger Stadium on Monday night and not only ended up receiving stitches in his chin as a result of his face-plant but was left with soreness in his rib cage, knee and shoulder.

The Nationals reported that the 20-year-old Harper had passed two concussion tests and was cleared to return.

Harper entered Wednesday night's game against the Dodgers in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter and grounded out.

He is batting .300 with 10 home runs and 21 RBI in 36 games this season.
