Hanley Ramirez: (Thumb) Needs Surgery, Out Eight Weeks

Rotowire.com
Update: Ramirez (thumb) will undergo surgery Friday and is expected to miss about eight weeks, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports.

Recommendation: Surgery will indeed be needed after Ramirez suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb Tuesday. The thumb will be immobilized for three weeks, and if all goes well, he could be back by mid-May. In the meantime, Luis Cruz will likely move over to shortstop while Juan Uribe mans third.
